The renowned American humorist and movie performer was born in the ranchouse, built by Rogers’s parents, Clem and Mary — both mixed-blood Cherokees — in 1879. The 400-acre “living ranch” (meaning still active), called the “Dog Iron Ranch” and the “White House on the Verdigris [River]” by neighbors, once raised as many as 10,000 longhorn cattle.
