A Poster from Long Ago

Happy Saturday Morning, Mamas.

While working on lessons about the Great Depression a while back, I enjoyed seeing dozens of WPA posters. People from many professions found work in the Works Progress Administration, including artists.

For the next several Saturdays, I’d like to share WPA posters that relate to children. I think you will enjoy them as I have. Don’t feel any pressure to do anything with them. Just enjoy. However, they might inspire a fun and historic art project if you have a budding artist at your house. At the very least, you and your children can enjoy what American children saw over 75 years ago.

I like that emphasis on good reading!

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true,
whatever is honorable, whatever is right,
whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,
whatever is commendable,
 if there is any excellence
and if anything worthy of praise,
 think about these things.

  1. Love this post. My nephew whom I homeschool has special needs but is showing artistic talent and this picture will help so much as we study creating a sense of space and distance. I like forward to all your post. Thank you.
