“Glad We Chose to Homeschool”
A few weeks ago I told you about my friend (I called her Lisa) whose daughter created an adorable Un-happy Meal. A couple of hours after I posted my Monday blog about our son John’s birthday, I got this note from Lisa:
Charlene,
Sweet article about John!
Austin turns 18 on Wednesday! It’s so hard to believe. I was just thinking back on all his pretend adventures and his inventions this morning. It was such a privilege to get to see all those things. So glad we chose to homeschool.
Love you,
Lisa
Our family has loved Austin since he was a baby. We are thankful for all of the times Lisa and Jeffrey have shared him with us. He has graciously helped Ray and me at several homeschool conventions. When it was time to put on the annual Homeschool Dramatic Society play back in December, I got an email from Lisa saying that Austin would be glad to come stay with Ray and me and help with the play, at home, or in the company–just wherever we needed him. That time they shared him with us for a whole week. When we were dealing with our water issues, Austin was here with us just going with the flow (that phrase really popped into my head with no pun intended!) and all that week, he answered each of my “Hey, Austin would you . . .” with kindness and action.
Just before Austin’s 18th birthday is a sweet time for Lisa to look back and be glad that she chose to homeschool. I’m so happy for her that she has all the wonderful memories. That is what you are building today. Even if it is not a day that you are particularly happy to homeschool — and we all have had those, maybe lots of them — it is a day to be thankful that you do.
Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks through Him to God the Father.
