Bright, Beautiful Future

Last night in the early evening, the weather was just brisk enough to feel like winter. Ray and I noticed that the moon was beautiful behind the clouds. As you can see in these pictures, the scene was in constant change.

At first, the sky looked like this.

Then the moon peeked through the clouds and a pale blue appeared.

The patchwork of clouds moved in front and then past, in front and then past the moon. Soon white light surrounded the moon and a soft orange surrounded the white.

That glow was also changing.

I didn’t have my camera with me and my phone died in the midst of my taking pictures, so you will have to use your imagination for what happened next. After about seven minutes of looking up into the cloudy sky, we suddenly noticed that the clouds were moving away. The sky above them was completely clear. As we stood watching the clouds move away, the full moon was suddenly in a bright, beautiful, blue, star-sprinkled sky.

In the ten minutes that we were outside, our view changed dramatically.

I learned two lessons:

  • The view we see looks different when we are looking up.
  • The scene before us can change dramatically in a very short time.

No matter how cloudy our view may be right now, God has a bright, beautiful future for all of His children. It may change in ten minutes like ours did last night or it may not change until we see Jesus face to face. One thing is certain though—that bright, beautiful future will happen at God’s perfect time.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who according to His great mercy
has caused us to be born again to a living hope
through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable,
undefiled, and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
who are protected by the power of God through faith
for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
1 Peter 1:3-5
