While I was growing up, Daddy, Mother, Steve, and I walked across the street to the red brick church on the corner. Over and over throughout the year and throughout the years, we sang the words of this wonderful old hymn from 1874.

Low in the grave He lay, Jesus my Savior,
Waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!

Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o’er His foes,
He arose a victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever, with His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose!
Hallelujah! Christ arose!

Things looked bleak on the Friday when Jesus died, but God had that all under control. He is the Master of changing things for the better.

This past Friday afternoon, our weather radio went off again and again and the rain pounded on our roof. It wasn’t very long until it was all over, and the scenes out our windows drew me outdoors.

God parted the clouds to let the sun shine through.

Wesley, Rainbow, Afternoon Rain 011

He reminded us of the promise He told to Noah.

Wesley, Rainbow, Afternoon Rain 008

He sent light that revealed the mist that hung in the air.

Afternoon Rain 001

He made the drops that clung to the trees glisten.

Afternoon Rain 002

He turned the grass a vivid green with the rays of His sunshine.

Afternoon Rain 005

He lit up the budding trees on the hillsides.

After the Rain Again 004

He brought out the colors of the rocks.

After the Rain Again 020

His droplets hung tight to the leaves He had recently sent up from the life He kept hidden underground all winter.

After the Rain Again 022

The storm passed. Jesus arose. God is the Master of change.

. . . He raised Him from the dead
and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places . . .
