Cheerful “Just Because” Days

We had a pretty little snow at the beginning of the week.

Snow fills me with childhood memories: riding in the car with Daddy Leland to go to his and Mama Sue’s house to play in the snow with my Aunt Emily, wearing bread sacks held on by rubber bands to keep my feet dry when boots weren’t available, sledding on the big hill at my Uncle Ronnie’s house, Mother making snow cream, Mama Sue making snow cream. . .

And there was that wonderful day when Mother laid down her work and came outside to play in the snow with my brother and me.

I’m thankful for a mama and daddy who laughed and had fun with us.

Remember that you and your children can take snow days, too. And you don’t even have to wait for snow. You can take a “just because” day any time at all. Oh, there are so many reasons to love homeschooling! Having happy times with our children is one of the best reasons of all.

Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth;
Be cheerful and sing for joy and sing praises.
Psalm 98:4
