Come Away and Just Be Mama

You are a homeschooling mama, but you don't have to be a homeschooling mama all the time. I hope you will close your "homeschooling mama office" at some point in every day and just be Mama.

Olive has been my friend for 24 years. She is a homeschooling mama emeritus, a devoted grandma, and perhaps the most organized person I have ever known.

This past Sunday night she was our hostess for an overnight stay at her home. She and Ray and I enjoyed each other so much that we talked until after midnight.

We see Olive fairly often, but it had been a long time since we had been at her house. She has made many changes since we were last there and we enjoyed getting the grand tour.

In early 2015 Olive became a full-time entrepreneur when she became a professional organizer and founded her business, Organized by Olive. She is definitely qualified. On Sunday she gave me many great tips, which I look forward to implementing. I especially like this idea, hanging on her office door:

Olive's Office Door
Olive’s Office Door

Olive works from home, but she doesn’t work at home all the time. Although she personifies Organized by Olive, she takes time just to be Olive, too. This sign she picked up at Dollar Tree reminds her of that. At some point each day, she decides to close the office for the evening and just be Olive.

You are a homeschooling mama, but you don’t have to be a homeschooling mama all the time. I hope you will close your “homeschooling mama office” at some point in every day and just be Mama.

And He said to them,
“Come away by yourselves to a secluded place
and rest a while.”

  1. Enjoyed every minute of our visit!!! The best entertainment in the world is taking time for conversation with those who know our story and share our memories. What a refreshing way to start the week!! As always, I was encouraged and blessed by our time together.
