Could You Go to Washington?

You might think that things are pretty serious around a company that lives and breathes history. That is certainly not the case around here. Ray is currently updating Exploring Government. If all goes as planned, we will release the latest update in December of this year. You can imagine why. Things have changed quite a bit since we first published it in 2006.

We were not still putting our curriculum into three-ring binders in 2006. We were punching holes and coiling them ourselves—sometimes while we watched old movies.

Those changes in government have gotten faster since the most recent edition in 2016.

For several days, Ray has sat at his computer at our house, while our proofreader Dena has sat at her computer two hours away at her house. She watches as he shares his screen. Together they discuss and make corrections. During our morning team meeting one day last week, Ray told the team that he and Dena had been correcting government.

We all got a laugh when Josh quipped, “When you get finished, could you go to Washington and do that there?”

Since Ray and Dena can’t do that, let’s do this:

First of all, then, I urge that
entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings,
be made on behalf of all men,
for kings and all who are in authority,
so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life
in all godliness and dignity.
1 Timothy 2:1-2

  1. So funny. 😂 It’s nice to hear you all cracking this joke, coming from such an awesome group of history curriculum writers. 😋 Here in Washington state (I know you were referencing DC however), things feel pretty bad at times politically, and we are seeing a lot of people flee to red states. It becomes easy to desire an escape, especially to places like Tennessee, but I don’t think anywhere is exempt from trouble anymore unfortunately. Thank goodness for our wonderful Creator who knows the future and loves us!

  2. Love seeing this little glimpse of how Notgrass got started. We are using the government course this year with our oldest 3 and loving it!!
