Daily Encouragement – The Book
For many months before I began sharing daily encouragements with you each morning, I was working on a new book with the same title–Daily Encouragement for Homeschooling Mothers. When I started the blog, I couldn’t think of a more appropriate title, so I decided to use it again.
This weekend I would like to share with you Daily Encouragement for Homeschooling Mothers–the book, that is. I wrote the first edition in 2004. It was black and white and spiral bound and had thirty-one daily devotionals based on Titus 2:3-5. Homeschooling moms could read a practical devotional that they could implement that very day. I have been wanting to turn it into a pretty hardcover book in full color for a long time.
Now the book is finished and back from the printer! In this edition, I included the thirty-one original daily devotionals and added an extensive introduction in which I share my heart for homeschooling mothers and my feelings about older women and younger women, like Paul talked about in Titus 2. I am so excited. It looks just like I hoped it would. For ten years I have been taking photos of this beautiful spot in the Tennessee hills that we call home. In each page of this new book, I have shared one of those photos–45 in all. The printer did a beautiful job and the colors of my little corner of the world jump off the pages. Here are scenes by the river, from the yard, in the old cemetery out back, and in my flower garden. I once felt sorry for any plant someone gave to me, because it was not going to fare well under my care. Here in the rich river bottom that God created even I can have flowers.

I, too, have had a dream for several years of taking devotionals I’ve written and pairing them with beautiful photography to make a book for moms.
