I’d like to introduce you to Jacob.
Jacob is our HVAC hero. Our teammate Titus recommended him, and we are two grateful people. I thought of you mamas when Jacob was here yesterday making our HVAC system run more efficiently and changing those fancy filters we put in when Ray was first diagnosed with lung disease. Everybody needs a clean system, but Ray really needs a clean system.
I thought of you because Jacob has qualities that you can teach your children now, so that they, too, can become dependable, responsible, and trustworthy while they perform their future lifework.
Like you, we have experienced the frustrations of repairmen who show up late or do shoddy work or never show up at all. That is not how Jacob does his job. We know that when he says he will be here, he will be here. When a part is slower to come in that he thought it would be, we know that he will let us know and that he will come when it does.
Whether your children grow up to be professionals or stay-at-home moms or missionaries or members of a corporate team or entrepreneurs providing services, they will need to be dependable, responsible, and trustworthy. Bravo to you for making sure they learn how —

Is it not gratifying to see a slow shift towards recognition that we are in desperate need of skilled tradesmen, workers, and those who are gifted with their hands, and also that these professions are rewarding financially and personally! Our son is a welder for military ships (already 16 years) and our daughter works in small rural post offices and both are so satisfied with their work and inspired by what they do (plus, I can attest to you, they inspire others by the quality of what they do). It’s long overdue that we get this situation of “we all have to go to college” righted and put in its proper perspective.
