After the Last Supper, Jesus and His disciples went to the Garden of Gethsemane. Jesus told most of them to sit and pray, before taking Peter, James, and John with Him. Then He left them, too, and went a little farther by Himself. Alone, He fell on His face and prayed to God. Jesus had come to the most difficult issue He had ever faced. He faced it on His face in prayer.

We serve a God who hears and answers, a God who does the right thing every time. Jesus asked God to take away the cup He was about to drink. God responded, not with a yes, but with a no, but God still heard, He still answered, and He did the right thing, just as He always does. When Jesus left the garden, He had accepted God’s answer. After spending time on His face, He was ready to face what God called Him to do.

We try to do so many things for our children and our husbands, but the most important thing we can ever do for them is to pray for them. Sometimes God gives us the answers we hope for and sometimes He says no, but He always does the right thing and He always gives us the strength to face what He calls us to do.

“For the eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous,
And His ears attend to their prayer.
1 Peter 3:12, NASB
