From Thinking to Doing
When Ray was a young campus minister, he wisely met with our preaching minister weekly to glean David’s knowledge and wisdom.

I applaud my then-20-something husband for recognizing his need to learn from a godly man with experience. Ray recently shared one of David’s gems with me. David told Ray that he had never thought his way out of a problem; he had to do something.
It is wise to consider action carefully before taking next steps.
The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage,
But everyone who is hasty comes surely to poverty.
Proverbs 21:5
However, the temptation is strong to think and think and think about a problem and to feel that thinking is somehow doing something.
As a mama, and especially as a homeschooling mama, you have a mountain of decisions to make. Some are easy; some are hard. Some are easy for one mama and hard for another. The following scriptures can encourage you in getting past the thinking to the doing.
When tempted to be lazy, remember not to make excuses like the sluggard Solomon described in Proverbs.
The sluggard says, “There is a lion outside;
I will be killed in the streets!”
Proverbs 22:13
Pray about an issue. Choose to do what is right in God’s sight. Trust Him to direct you.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Don’t give in to inertia:
But prove yourselves doers of the word,
and not merely hearers who delude themselves.
James 1:22
When overthinking leads to anxiety, remember:
Be anxious for nothing,
but in everything by prayer
and supplication with thanksgiving
let your requests be made known to God.
And the peace of God,
which surpasses all comprehension,
will guard your hearts
and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7
When tempted to doubt whether you are making the right decision, remember:
For God has not given us a spirit of timidity,
but of power and love and discipline.
2 Timothy 1:7
1 Peter gives the key to combining thinking and doing.
Therefore, prepare your minds for action,
keep sober in spirit,
fix your hope completely on the grace
to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 1:13

What a sweet family photo. Beautiful.
