Go to Learn – Part 3
Last week Ray and I visited our daughter Bethany’s family. On our way home, we stayed at a Hampton Inn. When we went to the dining room for our free breakfast the next morning, I noticed a couple about our age.

Ray chose a table near them. After we gathered our food, I glanced over at their table and saw that two young boys had joined them. Both of the couple’s faces beamed with joy as they interacted with these two boys. Obviously, they were their grandsons. I recognized those looks as the same grandparent faces of joy that our grandchildren must see when Ray and I greet them.
While preparing my tea at the coffee and tea station, I noticed a couple wearing matching T-shirts that read, “Jesus can.” They, too, had happy faces as they did the mundane task of getting a hot cup of something or other to begin their day. Later I noticed that they were the parents of those two grandsons. When the father helped the boys in the crowded area that housed the oatmeal, waffle machine, juice machine, yogurt, cereal, powdered eggs, and that day’s breakfast meat, I saw smiles. I heard no words but pleasant words. No sounds of “Hurry up!” or “Watch out! Be careful!” or “Don’t do that!” reached my ears.
As grandparents, parents, and grandsons breakfasted near us, the calm family atmosphere continued. Before Ray and I left the room, I had to go over and interrupt them for some words of encouragement. I had to tell them that their light shone.
Shining light is another opportunity that going to learn offers our families.
Let your light shine before men in such a way
that they may see your good works,
and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 5:16

I hope that Bethany’s husband and children are doing well. I pray for them, and you and Ray, daily.
We are all doing well, Claire. It is definitely hard, but God keeps us going. I am deeply grateful for your prayers. You have been such a faithful friend for so many years. Thank you.
