God’s Love for You

God loves you more than you can imagine, just as you love your children more than they can imagine. I love that our children have children of their own because now our children have an idea of how very much I love them. Maybe that is one reason God made us so that we could live in families — so we would know how very much He loves us.

God gave me a gift in 1973. He made me the work study student of a godly professor. That godly professor and his wife had a powerful impact in my life back then.

God recently gave me another priceless gift. He brought them back into my life through a mutual friend. I have been overwhelmed with the realization that this reunion is a gift God has given to me right now. I needed them desperately as a 19-year-old college student. I am profoundly grateful that God loves me enough to give them to me a second time.

Our friend writes beautiful devotionals. He recently painted the word picture of our sitting in God’s lap. God really is our loving Father. The word Abba that Jesus sometimes used for God means “Daddy.”

Today I would like to share a prayer from Colossians with you. This prayer reveals what God wants for us– and what we want for our children.

For this reason also,
since the day we heard of it,
we have not ceased to pray for you
and to ask that you may be filled
with the knowledge of His will
in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,
so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord,
to please Him in all respects,
bearing fruit in every good work
and increasing in the knowledge of God;
strengthened with all power,
according to His glorious might,
for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience;
joyously giving thanks to the Father,
who has qualified us to share
in the inheritance of the saints in Light.
Colossians 1:9-12
