Grateful for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
Today is Friday. In schools across the country, many children have received free breakfast and lunch all week. Some of those children are wondering what they will eat over the weekend, when there is no school cafeteria to feed them. In many schools, charitable organizations are providing food for children to take home in their backpacks, foods that are non-perishable and can be eaten with little preparation.
Several weeks ago when Ray and I were visiting the church of some friends of ours on a Sunday morning, the minister told a story about a group who was assembling food for a weekend food bag program when a little boy walked by and said, “I hope one of those is for me.”
In Touched by the King, the children shared with the audience about an amazing day when Jesus provided food for thousands of people.

Ordering the people to sit down on the grass,
He took the five loaves and the two fish,
and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food,
and breaking the loaves He gave them to the disciples,
and the disciples gave them to the crowds.
Matthew 14:19
I am proud of you for taking such good care of your families. As we prepare for a wonderful October weekend, let’s be grateful for the gift of food to give to them and for our Father Who gives us every bite.
