Happy April Foolish Day

Several years ago I got to know an older man with one handicapped son about thirty years old. The father described their close relationship with a Southernism: “I’m foolish about him and he’s foolish about me.”

Every child longs for two parents who are “foolish” about them–and four grandparents, too. We speak of falling madly in love with our husbands. Every child wants parents who are madly in love with him or her–in the words of my friend, “foolish” about them.

We are in Missouri between the Greater St. Louis Expo and the Midwest Parent Educators Conference in Kansas City. We are enjoying time with our grandson Henry and his parents. Last night we all went to an arcade with big and little people play structures. I loved my time being foolish about and foolish with Henry!

For our heart rejoices in Him,
Because we trust in His holy name.
