Happy Valentine’s Day, Mamas! As we grow and mature as Christians, Valentine’s Day becomes more meaningful than just a holiday for “me and my own true love.” We learn more of what it means that God is love and that He loves us. We grow in our love for many people and have a deeper and more precious love for the special people we call our “loved ones.” We long for our loved ones—and especially our children and our descendants—to know God, to love God, and to know how much He loves them.

On this February 14, when we see hearts and Valentines all around us, my Valentine’s Day greeting to you is a collection of Bible verses that speak of God’s heart, of our hearts, and of the hearts of our children and descendants, along with Valentines by one of my favorite children’s books illustrators, English artist Kate Greenaway (1846-1901). The counsel of the Lord stands forever,
The plans of His heart from generation to generation.
Psalm 33:11

Only give heed to yourself
and keep your soul diligently,
so that you do not forget the things
which your eyes have seen
and they do not depart from your heart
all the days of your life;
but make them known to your sons and your grandsons.
Deuteronomy 4:9

Moreover the Lord your God will
circumcise your heart
and the heart of your descendants,
to love the Lord your God
with all your heart and with all your soul,
so that you may live.
Deuteronomy 30:6

Last year our videographer Titus interviewed Ray and me on the topic of Love and Marriage. Today’s Winter Cheer video is a five-minute segment of that video. You can find it later today by clicking here or on the photo below. This webpage has all of the Winter Cheer videos with the most recent ones nearest the top of the page.
