Held any boulders lately?

My collection of rocks is small. I’ve picked one up here and there through the years. I cherish the rocks our grandchildren have painted and the ones they have found and given to me because of the beauty they see in them.

I like to see rocks in museums. I went to a rock show one time with some friends who are serious rock collectors. That was fun. My favorite rock viewing is when I see the giant rocks God has placed in the great outdoors. The rocks in this picture are at Rock City in north Georgia, near Chattanooga, Tennessee.

I often remember the trip Ray and I took to Elephant Rocks State Park in Missouri. Amazing.

This roadside waterfall cascades over rocks in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York.

And the sandstone rocks in the poorly-named (in my opinion) Garden of the Gods park in Colorado Springs, Colorado, are massive. The formation to the left is called kissing camels.

These next two pictures are also from Garden of the Gods. They illustrate what we women try to do too often. We try to hold up the boulders in our lives by ourselves . . .

. . . instead of hiding in the Rock of Ages.

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Psalm 18:2

My soul waits in silence for God only;
From Him is my salvation.
He only is my rock and my salvation,
My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.
Psalm 62:1-2
