Humility and Prayer
I’m trying to spend some time in the sunshine every day. What a balm it is to be outside watching God’s hand bring one living thing after another into being. The big pink dogwood tree in our front yard is blooming. So is the little white one. On Monday I saw this beautiful blossom.
God is kind to give us reminders of the Cross in Creation.
As I think about the hardships in the world now, I keep thinking that what we people in the world need to do is to humble ourselves before our mighty God. The verse from 2 Chronicles 7:14 keeps penetrating my mind. God told the Israelites that if they would humble themselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from their wicked ways, He would hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.
Let’s be the first ones to do that and let’s encourage others to do that. Let’s start a movement–a humble, praying, seeking, turning movement, while we beg our Father in heaven to heal our land and all the lands of the world.
Jesus, who never sinned once ever and who is the one and only Son of God, is our example. He humbled Himself. Certainly we should, too.
Besides the reality that all of us people in the world need to do this, our children need to see us do this so they will know what to do when they grow up and face challenges.
Being found in appearance as a man,
He humbled Himself
by becoming obedient to the point of death,
even death on a cross.
For this reason also, God highly exalted Him,
and bestowed on Him
the name which is above every name,
so that at the name of Jesus
every knee will bow,
of those who are in heaven
and on earth and under the earth,
and that every tongue will confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
