The question has never been whether God is worthy of our trust. The question is whether we people will trust Him. Some years after God led the descendants of His faithful servant Abraham from Egypt to the Promised Land, they asked for a king. After only three kings — Saul, David, and Solomon — the kingdom split in two and became the Northern Kingdom of Israel and the Southern Kingdom of Judah. Not one of the Northern Kingdom’s kings was faithful to God. Every king of the Northern Kingdom led his people into idolatry and many other sins.

Still God sent prophets to the Northern Kingdom, including the prophet Hosea. Their sin led Hosea to ask this question about these descendants of Abraham:

How long will they be incapable of innocence?
Hosea 8:5

America tries to protect children with car seats and welfare and vaccinations and regulations about daycare and the like, but how long will our children be capable of innocence — so that they do not become “incapable of innocence”? What a tragedy that would be!

That’s your job. Thank you for homeschooling. Homeschooling by itself won’t be enough, but it is a giant step in the right direction. Good job, Mama.

For the report of your obedience has reached to all;
therefore I am rejoicing over you,
but I want you to be wise in what is good
and innocent in what is evil.
Romans 16:19
