Learning About God Through What He Has Made

Ray and I came home last night after a wonderful mini-vacation in the mountains of North Carolina with our daughter Bethany and her family. On Monday morning we hiked to High Falls . . .

. . . and Triple Falls . . .

. . . in DuPont State Forest near Cedar Mountain, North Carolina. It felt so good to be surrounded with the wonders of God’s creation.

I am grateful for parents who took my brother and me hiking to waterfalls and thankful for memories of hikes with our own children. What a privilege it was to experience that again with now another generation.

Breathing the brisk mountain air, feeling the warm dappled sunshine, relishing the waterfall mist on our faces, watching grandchildren scamper and climb, and hearing their sweet voices — all are God’s blessings — and His lessons.

For since the creation of the world
His eternal power and divine nature,
have been clearly seen, being understood
through what has been made . . .
Romans 1:20

The last photo I took on our hike was this one. We three generations gathered around the remains of a tree. We looked inside amazed at this heart-shaped tree stump. God is kind to show us His love in ways too many to count.

. . . God demonstrates His own love toward us,
in that while we were yet sinners,
Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8
