Learning from the Snow (and I can post photos again!)

Last night while I was deciding what to write about for this morning, I noticed good things happening, practically before my eyes. One blog site issue after another was looking like it used to look before the problems began before Christmas. I texted our son at 9:16 p.m. (long after our workday is supposed to be over), saying “Are you working on my blog site? It is improving before my eyes!” He texted back, “No, but I have hired someone to.” A few minutes after that, I uploaded a photo from my camera, uploaded it to the blog site, and voilà! Here it is!

I am very happy to be able to post photos again—even more so because yesterday was so photogenic here in Gainesboro! About 10:00 p.m. Sunday night, Ray encouraged me to look outside. The temperature on New Year’s Day had been so warm that we turned on the air conditioner. All that had changed by the time I took the above photo on Sunday night.

Today I am celebrating being able to post photos again by sharing with you some of the beauty God created for us to enjoy all day on Monday. Along with the photos are Bible verses about snow. God blessed us with the ability to see the beauty of snow and to delight in feeling its freshness. In His Word, He used snow to teach us important lessons.

Thank you for all the ways you use God’s Word and His creation to teach your children.

[God asked Job:]  “Have you entered the storehouses of the snow,
And have you seen the storehouses of the hail . . .?”
Job 38:22

He showers snow like wool;
He scatters the frost like ashes.
He hurls His ice as fragments;
Who can stand before His cold?
He sends His word and makes them melt;
He makes His wind blow, and the waters flow.
Psalm 147:16-18

An excellent wife, who can find her?
For her worth is far above jewels. . .
She is not afraid of the snow for her household,
For all her household are clothed with scarlet.
Proverbs 31:10, 21

Praise the Lord from the earth,
Sea monsters, and all the ocean depths;
Fire and hail, snow and clouds;
Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;
Psalm 148:7-8

Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
Cleanse me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Psalm 51:7

“Come now, and let us debate your case,”
says the Lord. “Though your sins are as scarlet,
They shall become as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be like wool.”
Isaiah 1:18

Like the cold of snow in the time of harvest
Is a faithful messenger to those who send him,
For he refreshes the soul of his masters.
Proverbs 25:13

For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven,
And do not return there without watering the earth
And making it produce and sprout,
And providing seed to the sower and bread to the eater;
So will My word be which goes out of My mouth;
It will not return to Me empty,
Without accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding in the purpose for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:10-11
