Lovely

As I mentioned recently, some of the things we see through our window on the world are lovely. God has told us to dwell on lovely things.

I’m not Roman Catholic and the only information I really have about Roman Catholicism is what I have learned from studying history and from Catholics whom I know personally. As Ray and I toured one Roman Catholic church after another in Quebec, both of us appreciated the lovely things we saw and the honor shown to Jesus.

Today I would like to take you on a tour of a beautiful basilica near Quebec City in the tiny town of Sainte Anne de Beaupré. The first church at Sainte Anne de Beaupré was constructed in 1658. Construction began on the current basilica in 1923; its style is art deco. The Bible doesn’t tell us the name of Mary’s mother, but Roman Catholics call her Anne. This basilica is dedicated to her.

The basilica was lovely and was filled with lovely things. When I see a lovely place like this one, I marvel at the colors God made and the way that the amazing light He created on the very first day makes things especially beautiful. I marvel at His power over all the earth and at the truth that Jesus died to save us.

I marvel at the materials God created and at the amazing things people created in His image are able to do with those materials. You are training precious ones created in the image of God while you wonder what amazing things they will do.

God created man in His own image,
in the image of God He created him;
male and female He created them.
Genesis 1:27

God, in Whose image He made us, loved you and your children enough to send His Son to give you hope of life with Him forever. On this homeschooling day (or day of preparation for when you are able to get going for the year), I pray that this truth will give you strength for the day.

For God so loved the world,
that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him shall not perish,
but have eternal life.
John 3:16
