Making Up Our Minds II

God’s Word says so much about the human mind that I decided to share more of these passages with you today. As we look around us, it is obvious that Satan works overtime trying to capture the minds of our children. God loves our children and tells us in His Word how to protect their precious minds.

Colossians 3:2 teaches us to set our minds on things above, not on the things that are on earth.

1 Corinthians 15:34 teaches us to be sober-minded and to stop sinning.

Jude 19 warns of being worldly-minded.

James 4:8 teaches us to purify our hearts and not be double-minded.

In 2 Peter 1:15, the apostle Peter tells us that he is being diligent because he wants them to be able to call to mind what he has taught them after he is gone. In 2 Peter 3:1, he tells them that this is the second letter he is writing to them in which he is stirring up their sincere mind by way of reminder. As mamas, we too want our children to call to mind what we have taught them.

1 Peter 1:13 teaches us to prepare our minds for action.

In Philippians 4, Paul encourages us to be anxious for nothing but to tell God our requests. When we do, the peace of God which is beyond comprehension will guard our minds and our hearts in Christ Jesus.

You have daily opportunities to prepare your children’s minds for action, to train them to be sober-minded, to nourish their sincere minds, and to set their minds on things above. You can protect their hearts and minds and help them not to be conformed to this world but to be transformed.

And do not be conformed to this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,
so that you may prove what the will of God is,
that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:2
