Moments of Wonder

Our daughter recently told us about a precious moment of wonder with some of her children. One of them had looked under a box on the ground in their yard at just the right moment to see baby lizards emerging from their eggs! I think our daughter was even more excited than the children.

While we were in the Smokies recently, our friend Terry snapped the photo below. She captured what appears to be the same kind of lizard.

Isn’t it beautiful? These lizards are most likely common five-lined skinks which live all across Tennessee.

Imagine this! In addition to their diet of spiders, crickets, grasshoppers, termites, and beetles, they sometimes eat frogs, smaller lizards, and even newborn mice!

I’m amazed at what God has made and amazed that He gave our daughter and her children the opportunity to marvel at the birth of tiny baby lizards. I pray your day is filled with moments of wonder. They are all around us.

Give thanks to the Lord of lords,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
To Him who alone does great wonders,
For His lovingkindness is everlasting;
Psalm 136:3-4
