Mother’s Signature
As I folded the beautiful blue and cream Dresden plate quilt Mother handmade for me and hung it over Ray’s grandparents’ rocking chair in our bedroom yesterday morning, I made sure her signature showed.

I’m thankful Mother signed it with her actual signature and not in some alphabet embroidery pattern.

I cherish that signature I saw so many times from early childhood. Of course, her signature is all around me in her paintings, her gifts, her possessions that decorate our home today, but, most of all, her signature is in my heart, in my life, and in who I am through who she was, how she loved me, and what she taught me, just as your signature is in your children and will always be there.
Her children rise up and bless her . . .
