Nesting and Resting in God

Do you get the itch to do projects around the house at the first of the year like I do? I seem to get that itch every year. As I told you recently, on a day when we were having company for supper, I spent time that I thought I had but didn’t really have (because the kitchen clock had stopped) organizing the pantry. And this year we finally got rid of that ancient painted and cracked wallpaper in the very hard to reach space way up high above the stairs. I’m so thankful!

When my friend Betty sent me this beautiful bluebird earlier this week, I thought about our womanly nesting responsibilities. It isn’t long until March when bluebird ladies start their nesting again. Male bluebirds like this one help out by bringing their lady birds the supplies they need.

Betty chose an encouraging verse for her bluebird photo.

Now may the God of hope
fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
so that you will abound in hope
by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13

Doesn’t it sound wonderful to live in a home filled with joy and peace and abounding in hope? And doesn’t it sound wonderful to have a homeschool filled with joy and peace and abounding in hope? On many days joy, peace, and hope can sound impossible. On our own, they are impossible.

But [Jesus] said,
“The things that are impossible with people
are possible with God.”
Luke 18:27
