One Purpose
Once a week the Notgrass History team gathers for a brown bag lunch. Our convention representatives Phil and Donna have been on the road for weeks. It was nice to have them back at the lunch table last Monday.
Donna related that at their last convention she had a handful of mamas who told her specifically that they wanted a secular history curriculum. We can’t help a mama with that kind of curriculum. Ours has a Christian worldview through and through.
I’ve had a hard time getting that handful of mamas off my mind. In 1 Corinthians 15, the apostle Paul explains in detail the reality and the purpose of Christ’s resurrection. He explains to the Corinthians how central the resurrection is to our faith. He tells them:
If we have hoped in Christ in this life only,
we are of all men most to be pitied.
1 Corinthians 15:11
Paraphrasing that verse, I’d like to offer this thought about homeschooling: If we have homeschooled for this life only, we are of all mamas most to be pitied.
Thank you for homeschooling. Thank you for homeschooling for eternity. Homeschooling for this life is a worthy goal, but it pales in comparison to homeschooling for forever.
Do not love the world
nor the things in the world.
If anyone loves the world,
the love of the Father is not in him.
For all that is in the world,
the lust of the flesh
and the lust of the eyes
and the boastful pride of life,
is not from the Father,
but is from the world.
The world is passing away,
and also its lusts;
but the one who does the will of God
lives forever.
1 John 2:15-17
Thank you for providing a history curriculum with a Christian worldview through and through. It is without a doubt needed nowadays more than ever.
