Our Lives Are Ever-Changing, But Jesus Never Changes
The Haystack, 1891 by Claude Monet was the featured painting in the Farm to Table: Art, Food, and Identity in the Age of Impressionism exhibition that my friend and I saw in Nashville last week. The Haystack was on loan from a private collection. It is one of the 30 or so paintings in the series which Monet created on this subject in 1890 and 1891. The haystacks stood just outside of his farmhouse in Giverny in France.
The following three paintings are in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago which holds the largest collection of Monet’s Stacks of Wheat series.

I have yet to paint a picture of the hay that gets bundled rather than stacked in the hayfield across from our house, but I have taken many photos of it.

Likewise, I have taken many photos of the fog in that same field.

So, exactly what is the view from our yard into the field across the road from our house? Well, it all depends on the weather, the season, the time of day, and the angle of the view.
Our lives are like the views outside our windows. They are ever-changing. But our Lord Jesus does not change. We can rest in Him in every changing scene.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Hebrews 13:8
