Practically Perfect or Hopelessly Flawed?

Do you want to be like Mary Poppins, “practically perfect in every way,” but know that you are much more like Jo in Little Women, “hopelessly flawed.”

Do you ever feel inadequate, imperfect, hopelessly flawed?

You know what? You are inadequate, imperfect, hopelessly flawed. So am I, and so are those other homeschooling mothers you compare yourself to. But that’s why Jesus died. Do you think you have to be perfect to do a good job with your children? God doesn’t think so. God didn’t make a mistake when He made you your children’s mama.

Cherish your role as mama. Don’t let your feelings of imperfection keep you from being what your children need. Those feelings can rob your children of something they need very much—you.

Pray. Trust God. Believe in His grace.

This is God’s work you are doing. Remember that He understands all, He loves you, and He is willing and able to help. You don’t have to carry all the load.

. . . for it is God who is at work in you,
both to will and to work
for His good pleasure.
Philippians 2:12-13
