Precious Moments

I have learned not to recommend books to people until I have finished the very last page, so I haven’t yet mentioned the name of the book I am listening to. So far so good, so I am expecting to recommend it to you very soon. I am sharing another story from it today.

I told you yesterday about the mother who realized that teenagers and their parents spend very little time together. The lack of time she was experiencing with her son was exacerbated by her extremely demanding job. I am happy to tell you that she made a brave decision to work from home, giving her much more time with her son.

The book I am reading is about a very high-profile member of President Bush’s staff. She was so high-profile that when she made the decision to work from home rather than spend long days at the White House, her decision made the news. Later, when she traveled with President Bush to an anniversary of the terrorist attacks on 9/11, the father of a man who was killed in the attacks complimented her on her brave decision. Then he told her that the son he lost on 9/11 was his only son. He missed talking with him every day.

Ray recently gave me a mug reminding me that this moment is more precious than you think. Cherish your loved ones. Spend time with your loved ones. Hold your loved ones close. This moment is more precious than you think.

So teach us to number our days,
That we may present to You a heart of wisdom.
Psalm 90:12
