Smiling at the Future
He makes me lie down in green pastures. . .
He leads me beside quiet waters.
Psalm 23:2
He who trusts in his riches will fall,
But the righteous will flourish like the green leaf.
Proverbs 11:28
As the old hymn by Benjamin Beddome, published in 1817, says so well:
God is the fountain whence
Ten thousand blessings flow;
To Him my life, my health, and friends,
And every good, I owe.
The comforts He affords
Are neither few nor small;
He is the source of fresh delights,
My portion and my all.
He fills my heart with joy,
My lips attunes for praise;
And to His glory I’ll devote
The remnant of my days.
The purpose of your homeschool is:
- To introduce your children to the Good Shepherd with His green pastures and quiet waters;
- To train them in what is vastly more important than riches; and
- To teach them to devote their lives to His glory for the remnant of their days.
I can’t think of a better job description than the one you have.
Strength and dignity are her clothing,
And she smiles at the future.
She opens her mouth in wisdom,
And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
Proverbs 31: 25-26
