The Best Bouquets

We were excited when our mowers arrived one day last week. I had been enjoying the lilac blooms, the blooms coming up from bulbs, and even the raindrops on the lilies that aren’t ready to bloom yet.

I even thought that the individual dandelions were pretty.

. . . but they were multiplying so fast, that they were about to take over the whole front yard.

When little boy grandchildren visited early one evening, they thought the dandelions were super cool. I was gifted with a tiny purple bouquet; a big, brown unidentified natural object; and a short-stemmed dandelion bouquet. Ever responsible and diligent (he’s the one who keeps our bathroom tissue holders filled when he comes), the dandelion picker reminded me that I needed to put his bouquet in water.

After they left, I put my tiny bouquets in water. We enjoyed them for several days, not only because they really did turn out to be pretty on an antique plate I purchased because it was the pattern my Granny used to have, but mainly, of course, because of the little hands that handed them to me amidst the dandelions.

Little hands. Little minds. Little hearts. Little souls. What blessings. What joys.

But Jesus said,
“Let the children alone,
and do not hinder them from coming to Me;
for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
Matthew 19:14
