Teaching the Invisible
The heavens are telling of the glory of God;
And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.
Day to day pours forth speech,
And night to night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words;
Their voice is not heard.
Psalm 19:1-3
For every beast of the forest is Mine,
The cattle on a thousand hills.
I know every bird of the mountains,
And everything that moves in the field is Mine.
Psalm 50:10-11
For since the creation of the world
His invisible attributes,
His eternal power and divine nature,
have been clearly seen,
being understood
through what has been made . . .
Romans 1:20a, NASB
Summer is a wonderful time to learn about God’s invisible attributes. When I first wrote this message last night, I ended it with this suggestion: Just go outside! But, when I woke up this morning, I thought about one of you, a mother who introduced herself to me last weekend in Richmond. I’ll call her Amanda.
Amanda and I had a good visit in our booth. One of the things I learned from this devoted mama is that, because of her son’s severe allergies, they spend their summers indoors. Amanda gives her son his “summer break” at another time during the year and they “do school” in the summertime.
Amanda’s solution reminds me of Jesus. Like Him, she knows how to handle an interruption. She knows how to go to plan B. Severe allergies are a severe interruption, but she finds ways to manage. Way to go, Amanda! And thank You, God for letting me meet so many heroines.
