The Path Where We Lead Our Children

When I think of a path, I think of a trail through the woods. I especially love the ones in the Tennessee state parks my parents took my brother and me to when we were children. Ray and I later walked with our children on paths in state parks, too.

I hadn’t realized until yesterday that I actually walk on several paths all the time. I almost always walk through our living room in the exact same way. I go out the same door and head to the car the same way most of the time. I don’t vary my way to the mailbox. It’s kind of fun to think that I walk on paths every day.

Last week I showed you pictures of our Tennessee fall on a cloudy day. I was so hoping that we would have a sunny day before the leaves fell. That happened last Saturday. Ray and I didn’t follow our usual path to Cookeville that day. I took the pictures you see below while driving on a new path.

We are all walking on a spiritual path, too, and we are leading our children on it. God cares very much about what path we take. Here are some passages where He teaches us about our paths.

Enter through the narrow gate;
for the gate is wide and the way is broad
that leads to destruction,
and there are many who enter through it.
For the gate is small
and the way is narrow that leads to life,
and there are few who find it.
Matthew 7:13-14

In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:6

Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.
Psalm 119:105

For the ways of a man are before the eyes of the Lord,
And He watches all his paths.
Proverbs 5:21

But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn,
That shines brighter and brighter until the full day.
Proverbs 4:18

  1. What beautiful pictures. Thank you for sharing them. Fall was never that beautiful on the western side of TN when we lived there. Now out in the Northwet (I know it is supposed to be northwest, but when we first moved here a person I met called it Northwet and it’s been that way ever since) there are some really pretty spots. The reminders of how we lead our children is ever needed in this day of removing the ancient landmarks and ways. Thank you.
