A 30-foot-tall statue called “The Railsplitter” on the Illinois State Fairgrounds in the capital city of Springfield. It depicts a young, skinny Abraham Lincoln when he worked odd jobs in rural Illinois, years before he became a lawyer, politician, and U.S. president. The statue was sculpted in 1968 by Carl W. Rinnus, a Springfield native.
