Three reasons I would homeschool all over again

I would love to start over. As much as I love my life now, I do miss those precious days at home with our children. I recently jotted down three reasons that I would homeschool all over again.

Memories

I wrote down the word memories, but my thoughts about this reason go far beyond the memories themselves. It takes a lot of living to make memories. It’s those days of living every day with our children back then that has resulted in the memories we have now. I am grateful for every minute I spent (and spend) with our children. I would homeschool again because of the minutes that make today’s memories.

This is the day which the Lord has made;
Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24

Safety

We can’t protect our children from everything forever, but our prayerful protection is a wonderful gift and I am grateful I had the opportunity to do that. I would homeschool again to help our children be safe.

In peace I will both lie down and sleep,
For You alone, O Lord, make me to dwell in safety.
Psalm 4:8

No lies

Lies are all around us. Truth is, too. When we homeschool, we can actively teach truth in positive and uplifting ways and we can keep many lies out of their vulnerable hearts. I would homeschool again to teach truth and protect our children’s hearts from lies.

Watch over your heart with all diligence,
For from it flow the springs of life.
Proverbs 4:23

  1. Very well said, Charlene. I have often said the same; I do miss those special years together. Our girls still love at home, while working and attending college/Master’s work, but it is not the same as the daily blessing of homeschooling.

  2. TIME TOGETHER–learning, laughing, talking, reading, writing, sharing, helping, creating, cooking, playing, singing, protecting, nuturing, crying, comforting, guiding, praying–IN OUR HOME!!

  3. Do you have a blog post about things you wish you did or may have done differently? I so desire the wisdom of those that have walked this homeschooling journey before me! I feel like I’m walking kinda blind just trying to figure it out as I go…
