Trusting the One Who Gives Us Breath

Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground,
and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;
and man became a living being.
Genesis 2:7

What a beautiful verse! Just imagine: God breathing into man’s nostrils the breath of life.

The God who made the world and all things in it,
since He is Lord of heaven and earth,
does not dwell in temples made with hands;
nor is He served by human hands,
as though He needed anything,
since He Himself gives to all people
life and breath and all things . . .
Acts 17:24-25

God used His breath in other ways during Creation:

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
And by the breath of His mouth all their host.
Psalm 33:6

And this is to be our response to what God has done.

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord!
Psalm 150:6

When you homeschool, you have daily, moment-by-moment opportunities to share with your children the truth of God’s Word and the truth of God’s power in the universe.

Ray and I have been thinking about breath a great deal lately. This man who has never been a smoker or worked in a hazardous environment is having difficulty with his lungs. This morning he has a pulmonary function test, followed by a visit with a pulmonologist at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. These are crucial steps in helping Ray with the health struggles he has experienced over the last several weeks. We cherish your prayers today.

Hear my cry, O God;
Give heed to my prayer.
From the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint;
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
Psalm 61:1-2
