Truth, the Answer for Anxiety

Do you trust everyone in government to tell the truth? What about news sources? Social media? Many children are growing up in a world where they don’t know who is telling the truth, They don’t know who to trust.

Jesus told Jews who had believed in Him:

“If you continue in My word,
then you are truly disciples of Mine;
and you will know the truth,
and the truth will make you free.”
John 8:31-32

Earlier this week, we thought about the anchors that God gives us amidst the many unpredictable realities of daily life, noting that God’s predictability extends far beyond created things such as water, gravity, and day and night. He is Himself predictable. No matter what happens to surprise us, God stays the same. He is always faithful. Always near. Always in charge. Always Himself.

I can’t imagine how people live without knowing the ultimate truth that makes us free. How very, very troubling that must be.

When Jesus told His disciples about the many dwelling places He was going back to Heaven to prepare for them and promised that He would come again and receive them to Himself, He told them not to let their hearts be troubled. This was His answer for a troubled heart:

“Do not let your heart be troubled;
believe in God, believe also in Me.”
John 14:1

We read about the anxiety of many modern young people. A great definition of anxiety is “a troubled heart.” The solution is to believe in God and believe in Jesus.

When the apostle Thomas asked Jesus the way to where He was going . . .

Jesus said to him,
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life;
no one comes to the Father but through Me.”
John 14:6

Thank you for sharing the truth with your children.

I have no greater joy than this,
to hear of my children walking in the truth.
3 John 4
