Wandering the Halls of Power
When you’re driving from Canada to Tennessee, naturally you find historic sites to see on the way home — at least that’s what Ray and I think. We arrived at the New York state capitol after the tours were over for the day; but since it stays open into the evening, we went inside.

The security guard who made sure we weren’t bringing in anything we shouldn’t was a kind man who made us feel welcome. We enjoyed are wanderings. Want to wander with us? I can’t tell you what everything is, but it certainly was beautiful. Our security guard told us that one of the staircases in the capitol is called the Million Dollar Staircase and I don’t think it was this one!
The windows, . . .
the patterns on the wall, . . .
. . . and floors were very pretty, . . .
. . . and this ceiling was spectacular.
Here is Ray in the chamber of the state house of representatives.
It was a treat simply to walk down a luxurious hall.
I find the areas in state capitols where reporters work interesting. Reporters certainly play a powerful role in American politics and government.
The area leading to the state senate chamber was elaborate.
The chamber was closed so I peeked through a window.
I think this is the “Million Dollar Staircase.”
The capitol’s hall of governors has a timeline of New York and American history. The men who have served as governor of New York are a Who’s Who of American history.

First of all, then, I urge that
entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings,
be made on behalf of all men,
for kings and all who are in authority,
so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life
in all godliness and dignity.
This is good and acceptable
in the sight of God our Savior,
who desires all men to be saved
and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
1 Timothy 2:2-4
You were right in my backyard! (I live in a suburb of Albany.) I’m glad you enjoyed your visit to the capitol!
