What I Believe You Want for Your Children

Psalm 1 outlines exactly what I believe you want for your children.

You don’t want your children to follow the advice of people who are evil.

You don’t want your children to hang around people who do bad things.

You don’t want your children to mock other people.

You want your children to use their talents to accomplish good in the world.

You want your children to prosper in whatever they do.

You want your children to follow God.

That is the kind of person Psalm 1 describes, and it tells how to live that kind of life. Homeschooling offers a wonderful opportunity for you and your children to live it.

The next time you hear or see references to disturbing issues in the news or mocking messages on social media, remember Psalm 1 and be thankful that homeschooling offers you a different way to live a firmly planted life and train your children to live that way, too.

Blessed is the person who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
But his delight is in the Law of the Lord,
And on His Law he meditates day and night.
He will be like a tree planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season,
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.

The wicked are not so,
But they are like chaff which the wind blows away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
For the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the wicked will perish.
