Wisdom from a Teenage Boy

I loved meeting some of you at the homeschool convention in Cincinnati last weekend. Thank you to each one of you who stopped by to say hello. In addition to y’all, I met lots of other mamas. One of those mamas (I’ll call her Michelle) told me a story that I would like to share with you about her teenage son (I’ll call him Jared).

At the convention, Jared helped a mama who was stressing about her role as a homeschooling mama. Jared told her that one of the blessings of homeschooling is that when he is struggling, he can take a day off from homeschooling and spend time getting things right spiritually.

Jared is right and wise beyond his years. Scheduling should never be a lord. God always gives us time to do the most important thing. One of our jobs is making the right decisions about what that most important thing actually is.

Grace and peace be multiplied to you
in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord;
seeing that His divine power has granted to us
everything pertaining to life and godliness,
through the true knowledge of Him who called us
by His own glory and excellence.
2 Peter 1:2-3
