Working for Those We Love

I don’t remember when I first heard this old couplet.

A man may work from sun to sun;
But a woman’s work is never done.

However, I don’t remember a time when I didn’t know that couplet—and believe what it said—well, at least the last line, since I am married to a man who works very hard and whose work is never done either.

I know you’re tired. You’re probably tired almost every day. Sometimes you are really, really tired.

Still, what a blessing it is to have work which is never done. By that I mean always to have important things to do and always to have people counting on you.

I pray that God keeps my hands and heart and mind busy until my last breath.

What a blessing it is to work for those we love.

Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain,
But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
Give her the product of her hands,
And let her works praise her in the gates.
Proverbs 31:30-31

My mother’s hands

Whatever you do in word or deed,
do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks through Him to God the Father.
Colossians 3:17

May the kindness of the Lord our God be upon us;
And confirm for us the work of our hands;
Yes, confirm the work of our hands.
Psalm 90:17
