Waiting

Danielle waits for her soldier son to come home from the Middle East.

Daphne waits for her twenty-something son to be called back to his job after a layoff.

Samantha waits for serious surgery.

Molly waits for her son to jump ahead in his reading.

Dionne waits for her son to stop sowing “wild oats.”

Cheryl, who has hurt badly during the quarantine, waits to see her chiropractor until she feels safer about the coronavirus.

Millie and Jessica and Christina and Tara and every other woman I know waits for life to get back to normal.

I substituted all of those names, but I did not make up their real situations. Each one of them is a reality for someone I know. I don’t specifically know what you are waiting for today  — except for that last one, but I do know that we all are waiting.

I find great comfort in this verse from Psalm 147. Let’s all rest in it this weekend — while we wait. Let’s not just rest in it. Let’s rejoice in it! We can entrust all our waiting to our Lord.

The Lord favors those who fear Him,
Those who wait for His lovingkindness.
Psalm 147:11
