Christian Worldview and a Rainbow Sky

Worldview is a topic I hear about a great deal in homeschooling circles. I am very grateful for that. One of the most important things we can do for our children is to train them to have a Christian worldview. A Christian worldview gives our children and us a lens to view the world, and it helps us to make wise decisions about every question we face.

We had a little sprinkle of rain in the late afternoon yesterday. In the early evening, Ray noticed a rainbow in our rainbow spot. Almost every rainbow we see from our yard is in that same direction.

As you can see, this was a little rainbow, . . .

. . . but it was part of a rainbow sky. When a rainbow is in the sky, the whole scene has a special glow.

As I walked back toward the house after looking at the rainbow yesterday afternoon, I noticed the glow of this particular rose and how the light from the rainbow sky was making it especially beautiful.

Even the sepals of a spent rose at the top of the picture were a pretty color.

Just as rainbows show us a fresh way to look at the world with our eyes, a Christian worldview gives us a fresh way to look at the world with our hearts and minds.

Thank you for giving that lens to your children.

Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord,
so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted
and now being built up in Him and established in your faith,
just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude.
See to it that there is no one who takes you captive
through philosophy and empty deception in accordance with human tradition,
in accordance with the elementary principles of the world,
rather than in accordance with Christ.
Colossians 2:6-8

Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.
Psalm 119:105
