Ray and I always stayed at the same hotel while we were recording. It’s location just a three-minute walk from the studio was another reason we could survive and thrive those twelve-hour recording sessions.

Our room number week before last was 719, and last week it was 321. Even though the two rooms were four floors apart, we turned the same way out of the elevator, walked down an identical hall, and took almost the same number of steps to our room.

However, because the rooms were 19 and 21 on their respective halls, our room last week was an exact mirror of the one the week before. What had been on the left the week before was on the right last week. Every lamp and piece of furniture and bathroom fixture was identical but backwards. Everything felt wrong. Had there been more than three days in between our two stays, we might not have noticed it; but, as it was, it took some getting used to.

I thought about how confusing it must be for children with learning differences. Can you imagine what it’s like for folks when so much in their world feels backward? If that’s true for any of your children, I’m grateful they have you to help them make sense of it all.

So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved,
put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;
bearing with one another, and forgiving each other,
whoever has a complaint against anyone;
just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.
Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.
