Encounters with 911

Two of my dearest friends had 911 encounters in the last few days. I love each of you so I want to share a warning with you. Be prepared!

The husband of one of my friends is recovering in the hospital after a rattlesnake bite on Monday afternoon. Praise God that his son (a homeschool dad) was with him and could call 911 at just the right moment.

Another friend’s son is fine today but he and some buddies had a close call over the weekend. They got caught on a hot day on a hot beach in a natural area with no other people around and without any water. His symptoms weren’t so good when he called 911. A sheriff delivered water to him and his dehydrating companions!

Back when my mother lived alone, I always kept her hometown’s emergency number with me. I knew that if I called 911 from my house for my mother two hours away that wouldn’t work so well or so quickly. That emergency number came in handy several times before she moved in with us–including the time she had a stroke while I was across the country in California.

Lately I have been thinking about how thankful I am for technology. It certainly made a profound difference in my friends’ lives in the last few days.

My message today is simply this: be prepared!

She looks well to the ways of her household . . .
