We arrived in Anchorage last night and headed over to our bed and breakfast. Before our trip, we found a B and B up here that costs less than our usual chain hotel. Our host promised a big breakfast that includes her mother’s bread made with her 100-year-old sourdough starter–M-m-m-m.

Our cruise doesn’t actually start until Monday. Ray and I decided to come up a few days early to take a quick trip before our main trip. Of course, this was my idea. I’m Daddy’s daughter. One time when I was little, Daddy drove us all the way to the Mississippi River. We took the ferry across to Missouri and then took the ferry back. If we were that close, we might as well go to Missouri, right?

When I found out that we needed to fly in to Anchorage to take the cruise and that Denali National Park is only 240 miles away, naturally I suggested to Ray that we come on up to Anchorage early and take a side trip to Denali National Park before the cruise leaves on Monday. After all, when will we ever be this close to the amazing wonders God put in Denali National Park?

That side trip starts tomorrow, so today our agenda is to rest and go to the Alaska Native Heritage Center. We are expecting to learn about Alaska’s major native groups, including their storytelling, songs, dances, art, and games.

Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify Your name?
For You alone are holy;
For all the nations will come and worship before You,
For Your righteous acts have been revealed.
Revelation 15:4
