Gifts from the God Who Makes Things New
Merriam Webster defines new as “having recently come into existence.” God is the Master of “new.” During the first week in world history, He brought one creation after another into existence.
From day 1, He gave us the opportunity to have one absolutely new gift every single day. That gift is the new day itself. I love God’s gift of new days. As long as we have the breath of life, we can start fresh every morning. And when we no longer have the breath of life, we who are in Christ have the promise of the ultimate fresh new start in eternity.
We don’t have to be defined by yesterday. We have history — that’s true, but we also have a fresh start. I have illustrated this post with pictures of mornings. I hope they are a visual reminder of God’s blessing of new days.

Don’t live in your past homeschooling failures. Start fresh each new day. It is full of opportunity.

On each new day, we — and our children — have access to other new gifts God offers.

Again and again, the psalms tell of singing a new song. David spoke eloquently about a new song in Psalm 40. It is a message of hope. We can sing a new song — even after we have been in a pit.
I waited patiently for the Lord;
And He inclined to me and heard my cry.
He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay,
And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm.
He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God;
Many will see and fear
And will trust in the Lord.
Psalm 40:1-3

Many mamas, daddies, husbands, wives, and friends grieve over the way people they love have strayed from the path God has made for them. There is hope. God gives new hearts and new spirits.
Moreover, I will give you a new heart
and put a new spirit within you;
and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh
and give you a heart of flesh.
Ezekiel 36:26

I recently learned that I touched a hurting place in mamas’ hearts when I wrote about weariness. God gives new strength.
Yet those who wait for the Lord
Will gain new strength;
They will mount up with wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary.
Isaiah 40:31

God promises even to make people new creatures — and He does do that.
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature;
the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.
2 Corinthians 5:17

And back to that gift of new daily mornings, God’s lovingkindnesses and compassions are new every one of those mornings.
The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease,
For His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I have hope in Him.”
Lamentations 3:22-24

And one day, He will make all things new. That is when He will wipe away every tear and will destroy death and pain.
And He who sits on the throne said,
“Behold, I am making all things new.”
And He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true.”
Revelation 21:5
The passage in Psalms brought me such strength when my son was diagnosed with cancer for the second time. Loved reading this again today. I am AMAZED at what God has done for me.
