“I would do it again if I could.”

Last evening Mother, Ray, and I visited with my Aunt Nan and Uncle Jerry and my cousin and her husband (I’ll call them Jill and Tim). My Uncle Jerry is a veteran of the Korean War. Tim is a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Tim has been completely bedridden since suffering a stroke in early 2016. After his many weeks in the hospital and in rehab, Jill has lovingly and joyfully cared for her husband at home.

The Veterans Administration considers Tim’s current disability to be related to his exposure to Agent Orange while serving in Vietnam. Before his stroke, he was very active in an organization that provided assistance to other veterans. When I thanked Tim on Memorial Day for his service in the military, he said, “I would do it again if I could.” I don’t know that Tim has had a single day without suffering since he returned from the war. I am amazed at his generosity to us all.

Render to all what is due them:
tax to whom tax is due;
custom to whom custom;
fear to whom fear;
honor to whom honor.
Romans 13:7
